Reactivity of 3-Nitro-5,6-Dihydro-4H-Pyran with Organoalanes: Preparation of (E)-α, β-Ethylenic Aldehydes

3-Nitro-5,6-dihydro-4H-pyran reacts with organoalanes and gives 1,4 addition products.In suitable hydrolysis conditions, the reaction results in the formation of aldehydes that are C₁-homologues of the chain transferred by the alane.
