The rate coefficient of the reaction CH//2OH plus O//2 yields HO//2 plus CH//2O (1) has been measured by discharge flow mass spectrometry-technique under first order conditions with excess oxygen at room temperature to be k//1 equals (9. 5 plus or minus 2. 5) multiplied by (times) 10** minus **1**2 cm**3 s** minus **1. Reaction (1) is followed by CH//2OH plus HO//2 yields products (4). The rate coefficients k//4 could be inferred from HO//2 measurements to be 6 multiplied by (times) 10** minus **1**1 cm**3 s** minus **1, the uncertainty factor being 2.
