structural transformation between two non-centrosymmetric Zn(II)
MOFs enhanced the SHG signal very significantly (~125 times).
The absolute |deff| value of single crystals increased from 1.3 (for
1) to 14.4 pm·V-1(for 2). The loss of the DMF molecules resulted
in stronger interactions between individual dia nets and enhanced
π–π interactions. On the other hand, the oscillator strength
increased. Both effects caused an increased magnitude of the
transition dipole moment, and consequently boosted SHG
efficiency of 2. Our work provides new insight into how the NLO
properties can be tuned by the variation of the interpenetrations
to improve the optical properties of the Zn(II) MOFs for NLO
devices for specific functions such as NLO quantum computing
devices and highly monochromatic lasers.
