  For substituted styrenes, methyl, fluoro, and alkynyl substituents give good yields (Table 4, entries 1–4), regardless of the position on the ring (Table 4, entry 3). However, the presence of electron-poor and electron-rich substituents, having or not having labile hydrogens, lowered the yield to <50% (Table 4, entries 5–8).
