The reaction of the functional Grignard reagent 2, prepared from N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-bis<3-chloropropyl)ethylene diamine and magnesium, with tin tetrachloride followed by derivatisations leads to new tin heterocycles of general type RR'Sn2 (4-10, R = R'= Cl, Br, I, OMe, SPh, Me, Ph; 11, R = Me, R'=Cl; 12, R = Me, R'= Br; 13, R = Me, R'= I).In 4-8 the tin atoms have octahedral configurations with the carbon atoms attached to tin trans to each other.The tetraorganotin compounds 9 and 10 show no transannular Sn-N interactions.The nonsymmetrically substituted triorganotin compounds 11-13 exhibit ionic pentavalent structures.Their intramolecular mobility with ΔG^*_Tc values of 40.1 to 42.6 kJ/mol can be interpreted in terms of a partial Berry process.For the purpose of comparison, compounds of the type 2 (14, R = Me; 15, R = Cl) have been prepared and studied analogously.
