The osmium-catalyzed cis-dihydroxylation of "symmetrical" 4-O-glycosyl-1-O-acetyl-conduritol B derivatives occurs syn to the allylic acetate with high ?-facial selectivity and affords glycosyl-myo-inositols in excellent yield.
