The bleomycin (BLM) model compound bearing hydrophilic steric factor was synthesized and the physicochemical properties of the metal complexes were studied. Iron complex of the model compound exhibited BLM like reversible redox cycle and higher oxygen activating activity compared to the corresponding model compound bearing hydrophobic steric factor.
