44. Antiviral screenings were performed under the patronage of Dr. Chris Tseng,
the Program Ocer for Antiviral Research and Antimicrobial Chemistry of
the Virology Branch at the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases,
the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH,
Bethesda, Maryland. While screenings for the herpeses family of viruses were
performed by Dr. Earl Kern and his colleagues of the Department of Pediatrics
of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, screenings for the respiratory
viruses were carried out by Dr. Robert Sidwell, Dr. Dale Barnard, and Dr. D.
Smee of the Institute of Antiviral Research at the Utah State University, Logan.
