The radical intermediates generated by deoxygenation of alcohols undergo intramolecular ring closure when suitably located triple bonds (C<*>C or C<*>N) are present; the reaction provides a new synthesis of bicyclic ketones from either monocyclic ketones or cyclic olefins.
