Dependence of Through-Space 1H-19F Coupling on Molecular Geometry in 9-Alkyl-1,2,3,4-tetrafluorotriptycene Derivatives

In a series of 9-alkyl-1,2,3,4-tetrafluorotriptycenes, the 1-fluorine nucleus couples with some of the α- and β-protons in the 9-substituent, especially with those located in the +/-sc sites with respect to 1-F, suggesting that the coupling occurs through
