    Wasserman and co-workers devised an efficient method for synthesizing R-keto esters and amides via oxidative cleavage of CdP double bonds followed by trapping with alcohols and amines, respectively (Scheme 1).3 This method has been employed in the synthesis of a variety of enzyme inhibitors such as poststatin, eurystatin A, YM-47141, and YM-47142.
