The reaction was compatible with a variety of aliphatic, aromatic, and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes with different electronic properties, although the electron-rich aromatic aldehydes gave the corresponding α-iminonitriles with slightly reduced yield (Table 2, entries 6, 8, 16).
