  The initial rate (Δ[2a]/Δt) against the initial concentration of 1a ranging from 0.04 to 0.26 M showed a zero-order dependence of the initial rate on the concentration of 1a under Cr catalysis, indicating that anthracene may not be involved in the rate-determining step of the reaction or at least in the early stage of the hydrogenation (Figure 3a).
