  • Too Much Nutrition for Pregnant Women is Harmful to Fetuses
  • We all know that nutrition is very important for the mothers during pregnancy. If the pregnant women lack of nutrition, it will affect the development of the fetuses. Then, does this mean that more nutrition will be more beneficial to the fetuses? Of course not, during the pregnancy, women should pay special attention to the balance of the nutrition. Excessive nutrition is not conducive to the health of the pregnant women as well as the fetuses.

First, excessive intake of fruits will lead to diabetes.
In order to have a healthy, beautiful, and white-skin baby, many pregnant women eat a lot of fruits before they deliver the baby. They think this can supply sufficient vitamins, and make their future baby have good skin. However, experts point out that this idea is one-sided and unscientific. Although fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, there are some essential differences between them. The cellulose component in fruits is not high, while vegetables are just in the opposite. Eating too much fruits but no vegetables will directly reduce the intake of cellulose for pregnant women. What's more, some fruits contain too much sugar. Excessive sugar intake during the pregnancy may cause diabetes and other diseases to pregnant women.

Second, excessive intake of calcium may cause fetal abnormalities.
During the pregnancy, the density of the bones of the pregnant women will decrease. If they haven't been supplied calcium timely and scientifically, women will easily suffer from osteoporosis. What's more, the growth and development of the fetuses also need enough calcium for the pregnant women. However, the calcium supplementation is not the more the better. Excessive calcium will not only increase the risk of kidney stones and milk alkali syndrome, but also will cause premature calcification of placenta, and premature closure of fontanel. Experts remind that, pregnant women should try to get calcium from the diets. Dairy products are the best sources, and soybean products, shrimp, seaweed also contain a lot of calcium. In addition, the pregnant women with calcium deficiency can take calcium preparation under the guidance of the doctor.

Third, excessive intake of vitamins will cause fetal anomaly.
Moderate supplementation of vitamins can prevent certain congenital defects in the fetuses. However, too much vitamins can be detrimental. Research shows that if pregnant women take in more than 10,000 units of vitamin A every day, there will be 1/4 chance to cause fetal anomaly, such as congenital heart disease, and eye, cleft palate, and ear deformities; and there is another 1/4 chance to lead to mental retardation. If taking in too much vitamin D (more than 15 mg per day), it will easily cause the calcification of soft tissue for pregnant women.
