Synthesis and resolution of covalent diastereoisomers from some N-protected 2-cyanoglycinates using (S)-(-)-ethyl lactate as a resolving reagent, give rise after transesterification with titanium tetraisopropoxide, to chiral multifunctional carbon compounds 1, valuable chiral auxiliaries as key precursors in organic synthesis.
