Steric effect of a trityl or substituted trityl group at 5'-OH of N⁶- cyclohexyladenosine on the regioselective 2' vs. 3'-O-methylation under phase transfer catalysis conditions was investigated. Compound 4 showed only a modest increase in the selectivity of 2' over 3'-O-methylation compared to compound 1.
