Conclusions
A simple, safe and in situ oxidation approach was developed for the
synthesis of a uniformly dispersed PC–MnO2 nanohybrid, which
showed efficient catalytic activity for aerobic oxidation of
alkylarenes and alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds
without using any additional bases and oxidants. In addition, this
protocol is highly efficient compared to earlier methods and it
requires only a catalytic amount of PC–MnO2 (5 mol%). The reactive
nature of PC–MnO2 and its recyclability allow the oxidation reactions
to proceed to higher yields with simple work-up and less waste.
