The Friedel-Crafts reaction of 3,6-dihydro-4-methyl-2H-pyran with 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone afforded 3,4-dihydro-6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2H-1-benzopyran-2-ethanol in good yield.
