Scheme 3 Catalytic cycle of the [NiFe] hydrogenases involving the Ni-SIa, Ni-R, and
Ni-C states.
Further work is currently in progress in our group to develop
new bio-inspired mimics of the [NiFe] hydrogenase and to
design original polynuclear metal complexes with thiolate
ligands capable of mediating efficient hydrogen evolution.
