Forced Electrochemical Nonlinear Oscillator Assembled on Rotating Ring-Disk Electrodes

Self-sustained potential oscillation was observed on a polycristalline platinum ring electrode under the galvanostatic (constant current) electrochemical oxidation of formaldehyde in a rotating ring-disk electrode cell.When a pulsed stream of hydrogen was supplied to the ring electrode from the disk electrode, the self-sustained oscillation changed to the forced oscillation under certain conditions.
