Fatty alcohols

Fatty alcohols refer to alcohols in which the hydroxyl group is bonded to a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group and the general formula is R-OH (R is a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group) such as methanol, ethanol, n-octanol, dodecanol and the like. Lower alcohol is a colorless liquid which is soluble in water with pungent odorless. The higher alcohol is a waxy solid. The higher alcohols are mainly esterified with higher fatty acids, existing in animal waxes and plant waxes. The ester is used to prepare synthesis of detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, can also be used as lubricants and textile antistatic additives.
